Mona Ranade, Founder of Clinical Compass MD – Bridging Clinical Guidelines and Bedside Decision-Making | TiE Women’s Program Silicon Valley 2026

At the TiE Women’s Program – Silicon Valley Finals, we spotlight women founders who are tackling complex challenges and building technology to improve the way healthcare is delivered. Mona Ranade, MD, Founder of Clinical Compass MD, is addressing a persistent challenge in medicine: translating increasingly complex clinical guidelines into clear, actionable decisions at the point of care.

Through Clinical Compass™, Mona is building a unified platform that helps clinicians move from guidelines to bedside decisions and treatment plan execution.

The Problem

Modern medicine generates an enormous amount of evidence and clinical guidance. But having guidelines is only part of the challenge.

At the bedside, physicians must interpret complex recommendations, evaluate multiple patient-specific factors, assess risk, determine treatment options, and document the rationale supporting those decisions — often under significant time pressure.

The result can be fragmented workflows, inconsistent application of guidelines, and a significant cognitive burden for clinicians.

As Mona describes the challenge, the gap isn’t necessarily a lack of medical knowledge. It is the gap between what clinicians know, what they decide, and what they need to document to execute that plan.

Clinical Compass’ Solution

Clinical Compass™ is a unified platform of evidence-based clinical decision support tools designed to translate complex subspecialty guidelines into intuitive, patient-specific pathways.

The platform synthesizes relevant patient information — including clinical variables, imaging findings, biomarkers, and validated risk scores — to help physicians navigate evidence-based decision pathways more efficiently.

Its vision extends beyond simply presenting information. Clinical Compass is designed to help clinicians move through a connected workflow:

The goal is to make complex clinical frameworks easier to navigate without removing the physician from the decision-making process.

Why This Matters

Clinical guidelines can be comprehensive and evidence-based, but applying them consistently in real-world clinical environments can be difficult.

Clinical Compass is designed to help:

The platform is also expanding across specialties. Its current vision includes more than 100 subspecialty-focused decision-support modules, spanning areas such as pulmonary embolism, women’s interventional health, men’s health, and genicular artery embolization.

From Guidelines to Execution

One of the most compelling aspects of Clinical Compass is its focus on the implementation gap.

Rather than expecting physicians to manually synthesize lengthy guidelines every time they face a complex case, the platform aims to absorb that complexity and present clinicians with structured, patient-specific pathways.

Mona has described the concept as being similar to “TurboTax for clinical decision-making” — not simplifying the underlying medical evidence, but making it easier for clinicians to navigate and apply.

This approach is particularly relevant as medical guidelines continue to evolve and clinical care becomes increasingly multidisciplinary.

Clinical Compass is designed to provide the practical scaffolding that helps translate evidence into action.

About the Founder

Mona Ranade, MD, is an interventional radiologist and Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at Stanford University, with a clinical and academic focus that includes venous thromboembolism, peripheral arterial disease, superficial venous disease, and women’s interventional health.

She is also the co-founder and CEO of CurbsideIR LLC, the healthcare technology company behind Clinical Compass. Drawing on her experience managing complex clinical cases, Mona conceived Clinical Compass to give physicians a structured, guideline-driven framework for navigating high-stakes clinical decisions.

Her work brings together clinical expertise, evidence-based medicine, and technology to address a challenge she has experienced firsthand.

Her leadership reflects what the TiE Women’s Program champions — women founders using their expertise and lived experience to identify important problems and build solutions that can reshape their industries.
