Katy Reynolds, Co-Founder & CEO of Shibusa Systems – Rethinking How We Build Attainable, Resilient Homes | TiE Women’s Program Silicon Valley 2026

At the TiE Women’s Program – Silicon Valley Finals, we spotlight women founders who are rethinking the systems that shape our communities. Katy Reynolds, Co-Founder & CEO of Shibusa Systems, is tackling one of the most fundamental challenges facing communities today: how to build high-quality, attainable homes more efficiently and at scale.

Through its intelligent housing production platform, Shibusa Systems is transforming the traditional design-build process into a more coordinated, predictable, and data-driven system.

The Problem

Building a home is often a highly fragmented process involving architects, engineers, developers, builders, suppliers, permitting agencies, and many other participants.

Traditional construction can be slowed by disconnected workflows, labor shortages, material and supply-chain challenges, unpredictable costs, and inefficiencies across the design-build process.

At the same time, communities need more attainable, healthy, sustainable, and resilient housing.

Shibusa Systems believes that solving the housing challenge requires more than simply building faster. It requires rethinking the entire system of how homes are designed, coordinated, and delivered.

Shibusa Systems’ Solution

Shibusa Systems is an intelligent housing production platform designed to streamline the entire process from concept to completion.

Its integrated system coordinates participants, workflows, materials, and construction activities to create a more predictable path from design to finished home.

The platform combines digital tools with Shibusa’s Precision Component On-site Assembly™ process, turning construction into a more streamlined assembly process. Builders can configure homes through Shibusa’s online portal, generate construction documents and bills of materials, coordinate procurement, and use digital tools to track progress on site.

What sets Shibusa apart:

Why This Matters

Housing affordability is not simply a question of how many homes are built — it is also about how efficiently and sustainably they can be produced.

Shibusa was founded around the idea of creating high-performance homes that are faster and more economical to build, particularly for the communities often described as the “Missing Middle.” Its approach aims to address cost pressures, production constraints, labor challenges, and environmental impact through a more systemized approach to homebuilding.

According to Shibusa, its current system can reduce time from concept to completion by 50%, while its approach is designed to reduce construction waste and improve resilience and performance.

The result is a vision for housing that is:

From Construction to Housing Production

Shibusa is not simply looking to improve one step in the construction process. Its vision is to create a unified housing production system.

By connecting design, permitting, procurement, construction, and field management through an integrated platform, Shibusa is working to reduce the fragmentation that has historically characterized residential construction.

Its broader vision is to make high-performance, attainable homes easier to build in more communities — while creating opportunities for local builders and a more scalable workforce.
